IMA Urgent Care & Primary Care hosted a blood drive to benefit the American Red Cross on Monday, February 7th.   27 total units of blood were collected during the drive at Tower Hill Church in Red Bank.

“Hosting a blood drive coincides with IMA Urgent Care & Primary Care’s core values of giving back to the community,” said Dr. Roger Thompson.   “With a simple blood donation, we have the ability to help save the life of someone who could be a coworker, loved one or neighbor.”

Blood is routinely transfused to patients with cancer and other diseases, premature babies, organ transplant recipients and trauma victims, according to the Red Cross. Each pint of blood can be used to save up to three lives in the area.

“The short amount of time it takes to donate can mean a lifetime to a patient with a serious medical condition. We thank our generous patients who came out to donate blood,” states Dr. Thompson.  “Recently, the American Red Cross declared a national blood shortage, and we are grateful to our patients who donated blood.”

Each donor will receive a letter from the Red Cross with a description of who was impacted by their blood donation.
